Animation as an art form is now in the spotlight as a high yield entertainment medium. Movies from big American animation houses now number amongst the largest grossing cinematic releases of the decade, and now number as ‘block buster’ releases. We here in the region finds ourselves in a crucial moment were the demand for animation production has grown, and our region is seeing a growth in the use of animation media in many different forms. Were we go from now, as a fledgling regional industry in a time of great opportunity is what we want to discuss today.

Animation as an art form has grown from an entertainment medium targeting a narrow demographic to a technically innovative and multi-demographic reaching entertainment medium. Our region, as has been seen over the last thirty years in Asia, is receiving more and more sub contracted animation work because of the prime availability of talent and the competitive costs of production. However there are many challenges coupled with these advantages.
